SJ COPA Trustee

SJ COPA Treasurer

January 2003 – April 2017

Ma. Luisa “Loie” Rodriguez joined COPA upon the invitation of then St. James parish priest priest Msgr. Chito Bernardo in January of 2003, immediately assuming the positions of Trustee and Treasurer. Loie was a tireless worker, bringing to COPA the dedication, the competence and commitment she had exhibited in her previous career. An accountant by profession, she worked with PCIB almost all of her professional life, starting as a teller and eventually becoming First Vice President.

As COPA’s Treasurer, Loie was very strict and conservative in the management of its funds. As a result, COPA was able to accumulate reserves which it could draw from in times when the requirements for COPA’s programs exceeded contrbutions.  Loie was also very much involved in COPA’s yearly concerts, a major fundraising activity.  In its early years she was the overall coordinator and the checklist she prepared for the myriad details of staging a concert is being used up to this day. Such was her commitment to COPA that at the end of her life she bequeathed a significant amount to sustain its assistance to poor parishes around the country.

Loie was originally from Iloilo and moved to Manila after the war. She was married to Guillermo Rodriguez of Sariaya, Quezon, and adopted a son, Loy Joseph Ignacio, both of whom predeceased her.  Her other loves included gardening, travel and kdrama.
