COPA Launches New Logo

The St. James COPA Foundation, the social apostolate arm of St. James Parish, has launched a new logo. The new logo encapsulates the essence of COPA’s existence and mission.

In the background is the outline of St. James church, the base from which it draws its purpose. In the foreground is a pair of cupped hands holding people of different ages and stations in life. COPA is the acronym for Church of the Poor Apostolate but by accident, the word “copa” also means “cup.”  Cupped hands evoke images of someone holding something or reaching out and offering something. In the logo, these are represented by COPA serving the lost the least and the last. The images represent the people we serve the orphans and youth, the prisoners and the priests (ADAP). Cupped hands are therefore a fitting metaphor for what COPA is and what COPA does. Tying up the entire picture are the words “Serving God’s People” which sums up COPA’s mission.

The colors blue and gold are also meant to convey a message. Blue stands for strength while gold portrays treasure and blessing and the generosity of the people that make up COPA.
